Thursday's Photo Caption Contest

I'm not trying to just pick on Darren with these, but each time he posts a new picture of the Phoenix it's scarier than the last. It's like his gaze went from thousand-yard-stare a few weeks ago to plain old I'll-punch-you-in-the-neck-if-I-feel-like-it gaze. This looks like a cut scene from the upcoming Platoon II sequel. It is your job to stop the heroine trade, not inject it, right?

Mocking him may not be the healthiest choice, but dangerous as he looks he's still 10,000+ miles away, so I say why not. By the way, Darren, if you're going to shiv any of us, make it Abe since he won the last photo caption contest. Amish gangster indeed.

Captions for consideration:

- "UBL is my bitch"
- "No one censors my South Park!"
- Darren woke up two days later, naked in a ditch. He didn't know that someone had said the code word "Pancake", which was embedded into his psyche during Special Forces training. Once activated, Darren stripped down, left the wire in Kabul with a bowie knife and his iPod, turned on Metallica, and hunted down every member of HIG in a 15 mile radius. He came back at dawn the next day, and was turned away from the DFAC because he didn't have a PT belt. The dazed Darren fell asleep in a ditch and woke up the next day very, very thirsty.

Thursday's Photo Caption Contest

Watching the photos progress from Darren's deployment is like watching that happy rich kid turn into a cold hard killing machine after seeing his parents get killed in an alley by the Joker ... except instead of turning into Batman, he turns into a coke dealing Hell's Angel who plays by his own rules and will fuck you up if you touch his towel.

Now, let's make fun of him for it.

Photo CATion Contest - Jan 21

Guess what everybody!?! It's this week's photo CATion Contest. Congrats to last week's winner, Darren, who is going to war to defend our right to photoshop images of men and cats this week. I hear he'll be stationed in CATbul, the capital of AfCATistan.

Fact: there are 93,000,000 million photos of cats on the internet. But there is only one photo of Abe AND a cat.

Cation:

- Abe later moved back to Ohio where his love of Fluffy would not be judged so harshly.

Photo Caption Contest - Jan 07

In honor of the man himself, this week's photo caption contest is dedicated to Darren, for not only deploying to Afghanistan in a few weeks (ladies, he's available), but also for being one badass bungee jumpin', freedom defendin', motha'. So exercise that freedom of speech and help the Fourth Corner mock our stand-up man.

Beat this caption:
"Awww, snap!"

Also, congrats to Abe for pure caption quantity in the last photo caption contest. A new Year of Weekends will be out tomorrow! See you then!

Photo Caption Contest

Picking last week's photo caption contest winner was one of the toughest decisions of my life. Any reference to the Village People deserves recognition (go Jeff), as do the racial undertones of almost all the comments posted (Latrell, Fritz, etc.)

Ultimately though, it was the Macarena that had to win out. The dance craze that swept the world over has brought peace to even the most war torn parts of the world, including Iraq (also here). Hopefully it did the same for those German POWs.

This week's photo comes from a recent Year of Weekends sojourn out to the Grey Ghost Winery in Virginia. The latest Year of Weekends entry is currently being edited--heavily edited--considering it was a bachelor party. Until it is released, please enjoy making nutcracker jokes at the author's expense.

Photo Caption Contest - Dec 10

Congratulations to newcomer Wendy for pulling ahead in last week's photo caption contest. There was tough debate as to who won the contest (so close, Darren) but what pulled Wendy ahead was her dog-centric blog that doesn't mention cats. At all. That's a rarity on an internet filled with people like Abe, who spend entire days posting pictures of cats for their friends to see.

I hope that her Twitter account can usurp LOLcatz in popularity. I hope.

There's one more newcomer to welcome before getting onto this week's caption. I won't try to spell his name, but I do believe my brother and his wife just had their second kid sometime in the past few hours. Many happy returns and congratulations!

... Wow. Blogging about babies and cats before 9:00am...

This week's photo was dug up from the National Archives while working on a post for their Facebook page about World War II and the use of enemy propaganda. Good luck captioners!

Man is it hard to transition from cats and babies to Nazis...

Photo Caption Contest

Cool Hand Luke pulled out a victory last week by using an ironic name to caption a photo of Darren's hand on fire. Well played sir. Well played.

This week it's back to the Archives and the wild west.

- "I'll use my level three warlock on you good sir."

Photo Caption Contest- Nov 19

Congratulations to Gene for winning last weeks contest (I get to pick this week, mmwahahaha) For those of you keeping score that's 2 in a row, so how about some more competition this week, eh?

This week's photo comes from a kegger I went to 2 weekends ago in Crystal City, VA. It was to celebrate my co-worker running the New York Marathon, so we drank 8oz of beer every 11 minutes to honor her average mile time. The rest of the debauchery can be seen here and here, but this is one of my favorites. Can you beat this caption?

"See, I told you this new watch I got was waterproof and fireproof!"

Photo Caption Contest - Nov 5

Congratulations to last week's photo caption contest winner, Gene, though I was really hoping someone would post something with a Austrian-scientist type accent. I don't know why.

While there are many, many, many, many photos from last weekend to post for this week's contest, numerous ones of me in hot pants at least, this week's photo caption contest comes from A Year of Weekends' own fearless, obnoxious, wouldn't-stop-whining-last-night, ghost hunting dog Meepers.

Click, Watch, Caption.

Thursday's Photo Caption Contest - Oct 29

After an all-night directors meeting--ashtrays full, coffee mugs stained, crumpled papers and broken pencils--Fourth Corner Inc. is finally ready to announce last week's winner. Congrats to Josh C. The investigation revealed, by the way, that the 79-year-old hoarder next door had taken the table, along with our front door, and what looks to be a bouncy castle.

This week our Seattle bureau found a few incriminating photos of an honorary Fourth Corner member. Happy Birthday you big-headed lug you.

Thursday's Caption Contest - 22 OCT

Congratulations to last week's winner, the one and only Baron von Abe, for referencing the only successful movie about ghosts who play baseball in a small mid-western town. But can the Baron keep up his one week streak by winning this week's?

- Flashing the movers was cheaper than renting a U-Haul.
Remember folks, if you've got a picture you'd like to send in for the caption contest, shoot the Fourth Corner an e-mail. Or I'll start to pick some from the trip to Atlanta. And no one wants that.

Thursday's Caption Contest - 15 OCT

A lot of great entries last week, folks.  Transformers 3: Rise of the Redneck, Mr. Plow references.  The juices are flowing.  All in all, it looks like my brother Jeff swept it by implying I have a small penis, always a sure-fire tactic (thanks Jeff).

This week's entry is compliments of Bob, who got lost with us going through a corn maze, all part of our Year of Weekends, over here in the nation's capitol.  It was a frustrating endeavor.  Mostly because Katie beat us out of the maze.

Beat this:

Thursday's Photo Caption Contest - Oct 8

Let me first say congrats to last week's winner, Anonymous #3, and then add that you can put your name, or a fake name, instead of "Anonymous" by using the "Name/URL" button (you don't have to have a URL).

After ridiculing a perfect stranger dressed like a Scotsman with a parrot on a segueway with wench groupies at a renaissance festival (who knew that could be so funny?) I've decided it's only fair to put myself in the line of fire.  If you have a photo of yourself or a loved one that you would like to have made fun of, send it on over and, who knows, it could be next week's photo!

Thursday's Photo Caption Contest - Oct 01

Welcome to a special installment of Thursday's Photo Caption Contest! While most of our photos come courtesy of the public domain laws at the National Archives, but a photo from this week's trip to the Renaissance Fair in Maryland was too good to pass up.

Beat this caption:
-"Would you like to see my horsepower?"
And congrats to last week's winner, Katie.
