Versus: Vladymir Putin versus James Bond

In honor of two news stories:

  1. Russia's Finance Minister is encouraging people to smoke and drink. Says the man, "People should understand: Those who drink, those who smoke are doing more to help the state," Kudrin said, as quoted by the Interfax news agency. "If you smoke a pack of cigarettes, that means you are giving more to help solve social problems such as boosting demographics, developing other social services and upholding birth rates."
  2. It increasingly looks like a British spy was killed by Russian agents. Again. Recently a British agent was found padlocked in a bag inside his flat in London. Early reports said his cell phone and associated SIM cards were lined up nicely on his desk when police arrived.
So while James Bond may have won the first round of Cold War spy games, is Putin winning the second? Both smoke and drink, so fitness seems on par.
