On Tuesday a Barack Obama endorsed bill made clove cigarettes illegal, striking a severe blow to the tobacco industry's efforts to target children and gangsta' thugs.
According to the Washington Post, children are three times as likely to try flavored cigarettes as they are regular smokes. But this all brings about an interesting point.
Children of the 21st century, thugs, marlboro men, no one single person in this country can claim ignorance on the effects of tobacco. It is bad for you. Big Macs are bad. Driving and texting, also bad. So is alcohol in large quantities (unless you're in college). While I appreciate the warning labels on my cigarettes, banning them outright?
Why? I could see if they are "Jonas Brothers" flavored menthols or "Sponge Bob Lights" but if a man wants to smoke and its in the privacy of his own home or out in a park, who cares? Aren't we all trying to make that same argument about marijuana?
And what about the thugs? Won't someone think of the thugs?
I wonder what they are going to do with all those cigs they already made... Burning Man!!!
