The Great Virginia Blizzard

Apart from setting a December record for snowfall in the history of the region, the 2009 Blizzard has kept all us Virginians tucked up inside all day whether we wanted to be or not. A recent attempt to make it across town took two hours, four men digging, and ended after about 150 feet.

But, the sights are beautiful and everything is quiet in what is usually one of the busiest cities in the country.

It's been snowing for 24 hours now and the snow has reached over two feet, or about one full Meepers.

We'll keep you posted as the weather progresses.

  1. I find the Meepers system to be inconsistant. The ratio of Yellow snow to white snow increases exponetially over time, leading to a false reading.

  2. My heart goes out to the Virginians..but my heart goes out to my husband that's out there helping everyone restore power to their homes so they may have a Merry Christmas..he's miserable and missing being home with his family south of Louisiana..you would at least think they could be shown the warmth and generousity of the virginians but to be given frozen food in already freezing temperature and a cold hearted cot to sleep on. shame on you the state of Virginia!
